KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall seized several goods from unlicensed foreign vendors around Jalan Tun Tan Siew Sin (Jalan Silang) and Lebuh Pudu here today.
The hall's enforcement department carried out the special operation targeting foreign traders engaged in business activities without proper authorisation.
This action was prompted by a viral video circulating on social media (TikTok) depicting business operations involving Bangladeshi nationals in the area.
Upon receiving the report, a team of officers and enforcement personnel promptly responded to the scene.
City Hall seized goods from seven foreign vendors, mostly Bangladeshi nationals, who were selling betel leaves, food, and used clothing without the necessary permits.
"Earlier today, we conducted routine monitoring and took enforcement action against another street vendor selling betel leaves, also operated by Bangladeshi nationals, at the same location on Jalan Silang," the statement read.
The enforcement was carried out in accordance with Section 3 of the Federal Territories Kuala Lumpur Licensing of Traders Ordinance 2016.
All confiscated goods have been transferred to the City Hall seizure centre located at Jalan Lombong, Taman Miharja Cheras, for documentation and record-keeping purposes.
"City Hall remains committed to monitoring and taking necessary enforcement actions to uphold regulations," added the statement.
