Dr Dzul's aide apologises for 'unprofessional' behaviour

KUALA LUMPUR: Nik Azmi Nik Fathil, the press secretary to Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad has apologised over his alleged 'unprofessional' acts during the ministry's press conference held yesterday.

In a statement shared today, Nik Azmi assured that such an incident will not happen again in the future.

"I believe I owe an apology for the unfortunate incident earlier (yesterday). I am sorry (that such an incident) happened and I assure you (the media practitioners) it won't happen again.

"We are always thankful, and I am always thankful for the services rendered by media practitioners to bring good reporting to the people of Malaysia," the statement read.

Previously, the Putrajaya Media Club expressed its dismay over Nik Azmi's unprofessional act during a press conference yesterday.

The club said it received several complaints from media practitioners who claimed that Nik Azmi had belittled journalists who enquired about explanations of the statistics provided in the ministry's 2023 National Health and Morbidity Survey, which was revealed yesterday.

The club also said Nik Azmi interrupted and answered a journalist's question on behalf of the minister during the press conference.
