#SHOWBIZ: Ustaz Don thanks critics, apologises for 'mistake'

KUALA LUMPUR: Celebrity preacher Ustaz Don Daniyal Don Biyajid, 40, accepts constructive criticism of his views expressed on television talk shows and thanks all religious scholars who expressed disagreement with him.

In a Berita Harian news report yesterday, Ustaz Don said: "Thank you to all religious scholars and members of the public for your feedback. I appreciate your criticisms and concerns and duly apologise for what I've recently said. May God bless us all."

Ustaz Don's manager identified only as Ana thanked the media for understanding his difficult situation, and supporting him all these years.

The celebrity preacher recently came under fire for a comment he made on a radio station. He said that Muslims could not fast on the first day of Hari Raya.

Ustaz Don's stand was strongly criticised by religious scholars and netizens. Many of them rebuked him for "confusing" Muslims.

Ustaz Don subsequently made a public apology on his Instagram account.
