Perhilitan probing death of 4 elephants found in cleared plot of land in Kluang

KLUANG: Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) officers have started an investigation and taken samples from four elephant carcasses to determine the cause of their death.

The elephants were found dead in a cleared plot of land used by villagers to plant crops in Kampung Sri Timur in Kahang Timur here.

The four elephants were an adult female (cow) and three males (bulls), believed to be its calves.

There is a makeshift tree bark fence surrounding the plot.

State Health and Environment Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said it was too soon to establish the cause of dead.

Ling urged the public to report human-wildlife conflict to Perhilitan instead of trying to take matters into their own hands.
