HULU LANGAT: A mountain guide died after losing consciousness upon reaching the peak of Gunung Hitam, here, today.
In the 11am incident, the victim, Norfazli Abd Aziz, 57, fainted upon reaching the peak of Gunung Hitam.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said that they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 11.48am.
"The rescue team from the Bandar Tun Hussien Onn Fire and Rescue Station, along with assistance from the police, the Health Ministry, the Malaysian Civil Defence Force, and the Serdang Volunteer Fire Brigade, were dispatched to the scene.
"The tactical operation conducted by the operations commander was divided into three groups.
The rescue team successfully located the victim after taking four hours to reach the mountain peak," he said in a statement today.
According to him, the medical team, together with the rescue team, provided emergency treatment to the victim.
"The victim was still breathing but unconscious. Efforts to bring the victim down from the area were made.
However, during the descent, the victim was confirmed dead," he said.
He added that the operation to bring down the victim is still ongoing.
