Bus driver in viral reckless driving clip suspended from work [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: The express bus driver, who drove dangerously by overtaking a lorry on a narrow two-lane road in a clip that went viral on social media recently, has been suspended from work.

Konsortium E-Mutiara Bhd executive chairman Che Ibrahim Che Ismail told TV3's Buletin Utama that the 36-year-old driver was suspended yesterday.

Che Ibrahim said he was shocked upon seeing the viral clip since it put the lives of the bus passengers in danger.

He also thanked the driver of the lorry in the clip for being considerate. He added that police from the Gerik district police headquarters have already called the driver for questioning and that he is leaving the investigation to the police.

Earlier today, the New Straits Times had reported that social media users were furious yet satisfied to see an individual scolding an express bus driver for dangerously overtaking on a double line on a small two-lane road.

The video, believed to be from a dashcam, was uploaded on the #UpdateInfo X account and has received over 627,000 views.

In the 40-second video, the man had to come to a screeching halt as the express bus had gone into his lane on the opposite side of the road.

He can be heard telling the bus driver to be patient when driving, especially since he was carrying many lives on the bus.

The express bus driver had overtaken a lorry at the time.
