PUTRAJAYA: The remains of former New Straits Time Press (NSTP) photographer, Ahmad Irham Mohd Noor, better known as Mat Sabu, were buried at noon at the Muslim Cemetery in Precinct 20 here, today.
About 200 people attended the funeral including family, neighbours, former colleagues and acquaintances.
Also present were The New Straits Times Press (NSTP) Group Editor, Farrah Naz Karim and Executive Editor, Sharanjit Singh.
Ahmad Irham's body arrived at the cemetery surau at 11am for prayers led by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) religious affairs assistant and imam of Surau An Nur Precinct 11, Mohd Asri Him.
The body was accompanied by the deceased's wife, Azlimi Ayub@Abdullah, 43, and his two children, Aiman Irfan, 18, and Adam Irsyad, 14.
Ahmad Irham died at 6.30am today.
He was rushed to Putrajaya Hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) by his family members after his health condition deteriorated on Thursday.
After receiving treatment, the hospital informed the family that he had a bacterial infection in his blood and he underwent surgery on Sunday to amputate both his legs.
Ahmad Irham had made headlines for his success as an agropreneur, growing chillies and cucumbers in Dengkil, Selangor after he embarked on a new career following downsizing operations in the company in March 2020.
Former NSTP reporter, Fairuz Mohd Shahar, 38, said Ahmad Irham was very friendly and always helped his friends.
He said that the last time he met the deceased was at an Aidilfitri feast at his residence in Precinct 17 last May, where Ahmad Irham had said that he no longer wanted to work in the garden because he was tired and wanted to rest.
Meanwhile, former Harian Metro reporter Mohd Husni Mohd Noor, 40, is grateful that the wishes of the deceased's family members to bury the body and both legs of the deceased, were fulfilled.
