Former NSTP photographer's widow grateful for pension from Perkeso

Her husband, former New Straits Times (NSTP) Sdn Bhd photographer Ahmad Irham Mohd Noor died last Wednesday after contracting a bacterial infection and undergoing the amputation of both legs at Putrajaya Hospital.

Azlimi, 43, an employee of Putrajaya Hospital was grateful and thanked Perkeso for the pension.

She said the Penakat Pension aid will be used to finance the daily expenses and schooling for two children, Aiman ​​Irfan, 18, and Adam Irsyad, 14.

"I would also like to thank the NSTP, even though my late husband has not worked there since 2020, but through the contributions made by the deceased's company, he is eligible to receive the payments," she told reporters at the Ziarah Prihatin Program and presentation of donations at her residence in Precinct 17 here today.

The assistance was handed over by Perkeso chairman, Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal.

Also present were NSTP Group Managing Editor, Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman and Perkeso Deputy CEO Operations, John Riba Marin.

Subahan said, in addition to receiving the monthly pension, Perkeso also handed Azlimi a RM3,000 funeral expenses assistance.

According to him, the assistance which was increased from RM2,000 to RM3,000 started early this June and the deceased was one of the first recipients in Putrajaya.

He said, the monthly pension will be paid for life while the deceased's two children are eligible to receive benefits up to the age of 21 if they are unmarried and can be extended if they continue their studies at the first degree level.

"Indirectly, I also knew Ahmad Irham when he worked as a photographer at NSTP and he was very committed to his career," he said.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Zaini said, on behalf of NSTP, he thanked Perkeso for the assistance given to the family of the late Ahmad Irham.

He said, during his 20 years of service, the company made contributions until he joined the Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS) in March 2020 and ventured into the field of agribusiness growing chillies and cucumbers in Dengkil, Selangor.

"We hope that with the monthly assistance received, this can ease the family's expenses, especially since the deceased's two children are still in school," he said.
