KUALA LUMPUR: A man who walked almost 20km to get some food for his three children has earned the sympathy from netizens.
He walked from his home to Beranang to Taman Jasmin, Kajang in order to get food from a 'nasi kukus' vendor.
When relating what happened, the operator of 'Nasi Kukus Kak Chiq' said the man had contacted him on Wednesday to ask them if the shop had any food they wanted to throw away.
"This brother sent a WhatsApp text asking us if we had leftover food from Nasi Kukus Kak Chiq to give his three children. But we had closed at 4pm, so we told him to come today instead," they said as quoted by the Info Semasa Facebook page.
"When he arrived in the morning, his T-shirt was drenched with sweat. He said he left his house at 7am because he walked all the way walking from Beranang to Taman Jasmin, Kajang," he said.
The distance between these two locations is about 19km.
The vendor then related the story of the father of three, who had lost his source of income due to his motorcycle breaking down.
The man told the vendor that he could not earn a living while waiting for his motorcycle to be repaired.
This prompted the 'nasi kukus' eatery owner to donate some essential supplies to the man.
They even booked a Grab ride for him to go back home, insisting he should not walk back.
"May this brother's burdens be eased," they said.
Social media user Nur Iffah expressed her gratitude towards the food vendor for helping the man.
"Alhamdulillah, that brother found a very good servant of Allah. May Allah give them multiplied sustenance for helping people in need. Thank you for helping that brother."
The touching moment has garnered significant attention on both Facebook with a few eager to assist the family.
Among them is Noor Lida Habi Mat Dian, who asked about the man's contact information so she could help ease the family's struggles.
