KUALA LUMPUR: Vendors at a food court in Bandar Sri Permaisuri are frustrated by residents of nearby apartments who are using the food court's parking spaces, making it difficult for customers to find parking.
A 20-second video posted today on X by @AzrulIzzaham shows several notices on vehicles in the parking area.
The notices, believed to have been put up by food court vendors, express frustration with the behavior of car owners that is disrupting their business.
"Incident at Bandar Sri Permaisuri Food Court. Customers coming to eat here can't find parking.
"This is because residents of flats and apartments are parking in the food court area. The food vendors here are angry.
"Customers, fed up with searching for parking and not finding any, just move on to eat somewhere else," the video caption stated.
Meanwhile, a DBKL spokesperson when contacted said the issue would be brought up to the relevant department.
The video has garnered over 470,000 views with netizens urging the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to take strict action, while others suggest a payment gate be set up there.
"There is one harsh method: install a payment barrier. Only customers can exit for free after their pass is verified by the store, meaning they genuinely made a purchase there.
"Some fast food branches have already implemented this," says user @Sauffie84
"Solution: Paid parking after one hour. People rarely stay here to eat for more than an hour," user @StratcommPMX suggested.
"One of the causes is when a house is rented out. A single house might have 3 to 4 people, and each person has a car. Parking is limited according to the number of housing units.
"That's why many are forced to park outside the flat or apartment area, with some even parking their cars in the food court parking lot," user @AziziSulaiman85 said.
