Sabah govt aware of problems in the state, says Nurul Izzah

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government is aware of the problems in the state, said Nurul Izzah Anwar.

The PKR vice-president had met Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor here yesterday.

"He was very up to date on the key problems, not just education and infrastructure.

"He could really explain at length on what are the measures taken by the state government to address this and of course you can't do it overnight.

"But my point is the focus and priority and that's what we want to do in the context of the unity government at the federal level," she told the media during Sabah PKR 25th anniversary at the Sabah International Convention Centre here.

Present were Sabah Pakatan Harapan chief Datuk Christina Liew and Sabah PKR chief Datuk Mustapha Sakmud.

When asked about the state-federal relationship, particularly on Sabah rights, Nurul Izzah said it was important to come together based on common goals.

"It is really important to ensure that the leadership at the state level identify their own agenda, identify their own mission and their priorities independently.

"I feel that the chemistry is there certainly and it's an important process to uphold the dignity of each other.

"That's why for me we just need to make sure cool heads prevail because in any successful negotiations if you talk about conflict resolution, starting from the point of just making sure we resolve them in the best way possible."
