KUALA LUMPUR: A man from Klang, who went missing for a week after going out to buy cigarettes, has been found dead by the roadside of Jalan Besar Felda Soeharto in Hulu Selangor near here.
He is believed to have died when he skidded and crashed his motorcycle.
Hulu Selangor district deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Asri Mohd Yunus said the police received information about a body found beside a motorcycle in Jalan Besar Felda Soeharto yesterday morning.
"On Saturday at around 10.15am, the police received information about the finding of a body and motorcycle in Jalan Besar Felda Soeharto. It is believed that the man had skidded into the roadside bushes.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that last Sunday (June 9), a police report was lodged by a man regarding his missing father.
"It is suspected that his father had crashed his motorcycle while travelling in Jalan Besar Felda Soeharto, in which he died at the scene."
Asri added that the victim was last known to have left his home in Taman Sentosa, Klang, to buy cigarettes.
"Interviews with relatives and residents could not determine the victim's exact destination, as he had no known family or friends in the vicinity of the incident."
He said a post-mortem was carried out at the Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital and the cause of death was determined as severe chest injury.
As such, Asri said, an investigation is being conducted under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
"The police request the public to provide any information to assist in investigations," read the statement.
