AYER KEROH: An 18-year-old boy went home with a brand-new Proton X50 sport utility vehicle (SUV) after emerging as the grand prize winner in a special edition lucky draw at the Malaysia Bike Week Melaka 2024 event today.
Muhammad Danish Russidi from Bukit Raja, Klang, had just sat for his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations last year.
Winning an SUV valued at RM90,000 was the furthest thing from his mind.
"I never dreamed of ever winning a car.
"I just passed my driving test last month, and now winning the X50 is a tremendous blessing. It's a gift for my family, especially as we celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha tomorrow," Danish said.
Danish purchased seven TMM2024-themed (Tahun Melawat Melaka) T-shirts at the motor show yesterday, held in conjunction with Visit Melaka Year 2024.
His win was announced today at the event's closing ceremony, held at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) here.
Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh presented the SUV to Danish.
Also present were State Financial Officer and acting State Secretary Datuk Salha Saleh, State EXCO for Tourism, Heritage, Arts, and Culture Datuk Wira Abd Razak Abd Rahman, and Melaka Tourism Promotion Division General Manager Sa'ari Basiron.
The event, which concluded with much fanfare, drew motorcycle enthusiasts and tourists alike.
Besides the grand prize, Rauf also presented 10 motorcycles of various brands to other lucky winners.
Rauf said similar lucky draws with lucrative prizes will be up for grabs during the Jom Heboh Carnival from June 28 to 30, the Melaka World Heritage City Anniversary in July, and the Melaka Explorace in August.
To participate, visitors are encouraged to purchase TMM2024 souvenirs at key tourist spots throughout Melaka.
