KUALA LUMPUR: The body of one of the four fishermen, who went missing after their boat capsized and sank off the coast of Tanjung Segenting in Johor early this morning, has been found at about 7pm today.
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), in a statement said that the body of the victim, identified as 53-year-old Chiah Kah Chong was found by a group of fishermen.
The body was then taken to the Batu Pahat Maritime Zone Jetty, handed over to the police, and subsequently sent to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital in Batu Pahat.
The three other fishermen who are still missing are Lee Pong Ling, Tan Hai Lian and Raub Darus/Hamid.
"MMEA, through the Maritime Rescue Sub-Centre (MRSC), has expanded the search sector for the second day of Op Carilamat to cover an area of 65 nautical square miles at sea and a search sector of 73 nautical square miles by air," the statement read.
It was reported that a group of five fishermen had set out to sea at 6am before their boat capsized 6.8 nautical miles southwest of Tanjung Segenting due to bad weather and rough seas.
One crew member, identified as Tan Siak Bin, 43, was found and rescued by a nearby fishing vessel.
