MACC to record Khairuddin's statement on ex-AG's alleged misconduct

New Straits Times

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will record Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan's statement on the alleged misconduct of former Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali tomorrow.

Khairuddin, who is a Muafakat Nasional Supreme Council member said he will give his statement to MACC at its headquarters in the afternoon.

"I lodged a police report on June 23 (on the alleged misconduct), and the police recorded my statement on the same day," he said in a statement.

The report relates to Khairuddin's allegations that Apandi tried to cover up the 1MDB scandal during his tenure.

Khairuddin said the allegations should not be considered "trivial". He wants action to be taken against Apandi.

Last year, Apandi said he could not remember the reasons behind the Attorney-General's Chambers' (AGC) decision to decline further action against 1MDB eight years ago.

However, Apandi said it was a collective decision of the task force which includes officers from the police and the MACC.
