PENAMPANG: The number of people seeking refuge from floods in Sabah has risen to 464 as of 8am, up from 329 about 12 hours earlier.
In Penampang, flood victims are seeking shelter at the Penampang Cultural Centre; in Putatan, they are sheltered at Dewan Sri Putatan; in Tuaran, they are at Dewan Balai Raya Kg Tutu Selupoh; and in Tamparuli Kecil, they are using the Balai Raya Kg Bontoi.
There is an increase in flood victims in Penampang from 161 last night to 279 this morning.
Putatan saw a slight decrease from 142 to 138. The figures for Tuaran and Tamparuli Kecil remain the same at 29 and 18, respectively.
Since heavy rains on Sunday, the flooding has claimed one life and caused extensive damage to infrastructure, buildings, and vehicles.
Due to the disaster, many have experienced at least 24-hour blackouts and disrupted water supply.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department forecasts more heavy rain in Penampang this afternoon.
