Determined to vote: Woman arrives by ambulance to polling station [WATCH]

NIBONG TEBAL: Despite suffering from a stroke, Rosnah Ramli, 50, did not miss the opportunity to cast her vote in the Sungai Bakap by-election.

Arriving in a Yayasan Amal Malaysia ambulance, she said nothing could stop her from voting in this by-election.

"I have been suffering from a stroke for the past three years and find it increasingly difficult to walk.

"In the state elections last year, my children accompanied me to the polling centre as I was able to walk a little.

"This time around, due to my deteriorating condition, they engaged the help of the non-government organisation (NGO) to bring me to the polling centre using an ambulance," she said when met at SK Sungai Duri here today.

Rosnah said this was her first time using an ambulance to the polling centre.

The by-election was triggered following the death of Pas man Nor Zamri Latiff on May 24.

The Sungai Bakap by-election is seeing a straight fight between Pakatan Harapan's Dr Joohari Ariffin and Perikatan Nasional's Abidin Ismail.

In the state elections last August, Nor Zamri defeated PKR's Nurhidayah Che Rose with a majority of 1,563 votes.
