Adik is finally free from pain, says grieving mum

GEORGE TOWN: After losing her first son two days ago, factory worker Nurain Hasnorizal, 25, lost her second son today.

Both boys were in critical condition at the Penang Hospital here after eating snacks that had been laced with rat poison on Monday.

Three-year-old Muhammad Akil Syauqi Abdul Rahman died on Wednesday without regaining consciousness while his younger sibling two-year-old Muhammad Luth Syauqi died at 1.24pm today.

Nurain said the post-mortem for her younger son would be conducted at about 5pm today before the body is taken back to Kulim to be buried next to her elder son.

"Although it is sad and difficult to accept Muhammad Luth Syauqi's death, I have to accept it as fate.

"Let him be with his brother. They are finally together again.

"The only consolation is that adik is finally relieved of any pain," she said briefly in between sobs.

It was reported that the two brothers were rushed to the hospital after eating snacks containing rat poison near their home at Kampung Banggol Berangan in Labu Besar, Kulim, Kedah, on Sunday.

The incident came to light after Nurain noticed her youngest son having a seizure shortly after he returned home with his brother from playing outside.

She rushed to check on his brother and was shocked to find that he too was in a similar condition and frothing at the mouth.

When met on Wednesday, Nurain had hoped that Muhammad Luth Syauqi could recover. However, that was not meant to be.
