Airline's system outage forces manual check-in at KK airport

KOTA KINABALU: Passengers of an airline had to check-in manually at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport today due to a system outage.

A customer service officer of the airline said the outage began about 1.30pm.

"From what I know, only our airline is affected. Passengers have to queue at the counter for check-in and baggage drop.

"The delay in the procedures also led to the rescheduling of many flights," he said at the airport about 8pm.

University student Anusuiya Muniyan, 24, said she only found out about the outage when she arrived at the airport about 5pm.

She was supposed to fly back to her hometown on a flight scheduled for 8.30pm.

"I checked in online, but I needed to drop my luggage.

"I queued for two hours. The airline's crew asked me to let passengers of earlier flights drop their baggage first.

"My flight will probably be rescheduled, but I am not sure when or how I should proceed."

She said she was stuck with another passenger of the same flight to keep track of the situation.
