Gobind: Authorities closely monitoring global IT outage situation

KUALA LUMPUR: Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the authorities are closely monitoring the global IT outage that happened today.

Gobind posted on X that the situation is being monitored closely.

"We are monitoring the situation closely and have received reports of disruptions which are being fixed," he said.

He said all necessary steps are being taken to deal with the problem and it will be resolved soon.

Earlier Microsoft said "mitigation actions" are being taken following service disruptions.

The company on its post in platform X said their services are still seeing continuous improvements while they continue to mitigate the disruption but users may be unable to access Microsoft 365 apps and services.

The announcement came after Australia reported a large-scale outage of IT systems on Friday, with the country's national broadcaster, its largest international airport and a major telecommunications company reporting issues.

Bursa Malaysia also said all FTSE indices value feed have resumed following the disruption.

Meanwhile, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) services were not affected by the outage.

Firefly and AirAsia were also affected by the worldwide IT disruption that affected workstations running on Windows operating systems.

Passengers at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA2) were also forced to check-in for their flights manually following the disruption.
