KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has urged the public to assist the police to locate the six-year-old girl who has been reported missing since Saturday in Taman Botani.
In a posting via Facebook, he also urged those with information on the girl to report it to the nearest police station.
"I have received a report regarding a six-year-old girl who went missing on July 20 (Saturday) after being separated from her family during the Bon Odori event at Eco Galleria, Iskandar Puteri, Johor Baru.
"The police are working to search and find the girl.
"I also request anyone with information or anyone who finds the child to report it immediately to the nearest police station. May all the efforts be eased," he said.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan said the six-year-old girl Albertine Leo Jia Hui was reported missing on Saturday.
He said the girl was last seen at Eko Galleria 3, Jalan Eko Botani 3/2, Taman Botani, Iskandar Puteri.
She was last spotted wearing a T-shirt with a picture of the Mickey Mouse cartoon character and shorts prior to her disappearance.
"She is approximately 120cm tall, has long black hair, fair skin, and is of thin build."
Those with information on the girl's whereabouts can contact the nearest police station or Inspector Ridzuan Abd Hadi at 017-705 1097.
They can also contact the Iskandar Puteri police hotline at 019-279 2095 or the Police Operations Room at 07-2212 999.
Posts on the missing girl have been circulated on social media and WhatsApp.
According to the posts, the girl was last seen at around 8.30pm at the Bon Odori event on Saturday.
