Housing ministry allocates RM211,898,427 for various projects in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: The Federal Government, through the Housing and Local Government ministry,  has allocated RM211,898,427 for various development projects in Sabah this year.

The allocation was symbolically handed over by minister Nga Kor Ming to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor at the Chief Minister's official residence Sri Gaya here.

Hajiji also witnessed the handing over of the completed New Kayu Madang Sanitary Landfill Upgrading Project in Kota Kinabalu,  to the state government.

According to a statement by the Chief Minister's department, the ministry, through the National Solid Waste Management Department (JPSPN), implemented the construction of a new cell at the Kayu Madang sanitary landfill site in February, with a total cost of RM44.14 million.

The newly-built site can accommodate 850 metric tons of solid waste per day and is equipped with a linear system, leachate collection system, and gas release system.

JPSPN has upgraded the Leachate Treatment Plant using advanced nano filtration technology, allowing the leachate to meet all 24 parameters set by the Department of Environment before the treated water is released into the water source.

This project will benefit residents in five local authorities here, including the Putatan District Council, Tuaran District Council, Kota Belud District Council, and Penampang District Council.

In addition, the ministry through JPSPN, is also designing two more new projects worth RM77 million, which are the West Coast South Sanitary Landfill Construction Project at a cost of RM47 million and the Labuk Sanitary Landfill Upgrading Project in Sandakan worth RM30 million.
