Chronology of Nur Farah Kartini's disappearance and murder

BELOW is the timeline of events leading up to the disappearance and murder of Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah. The 25-year-old was a digital marketing employee at a printing shop in Perak and had been missing for five days when police discovered her remains in Hulu Selangor. Hailing from Miri, Sarawak, she graduated from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris with a degree in multimedia education.

July 10, 2024 (Morning)

-Nur Farah Kartini leaves her rented house about 8am after informing her housemate that she wants to deliver a rental car to a customer and meet a male friend at the same place.

-Nur Farah is supposed to start work at a printing shop in Taman Universiti, opposite the main entrance of UPSI campus, at 9am.

-After handing over the rental car, Nur Farah Kartini is seen leaving in a car, believed to belong to the male friend, based on information from the car rental outfit.

-They are believed to have had breakfast at a restaurant in Tanjung Malim.

-A witness claims to have seen the victim and the man arguing in a parking area near UPSI.

-The car is seen leaving the area and entering a nearby tapioca farm, where they reportedly start arguing again.

Noon

-The victim is reportedly taken by the man to an oil palm plantation at Kampung Sri Keledang in Felda Gedangsa, Hulu Selangor.

-At the location, the victim is believed to have tried to escape by opening the car door, but fell into a ditch. Police confirm that the murder took place at that location. Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Khan says there was a dispute between the suspect and the victim at the scene.

-The victim is believed to have died at the location. Her body is found on July 15, five days after she is reported missing.

-The man allegedly leaves the site in the car and heads to Sungai Trolak in Perak.

-At 1.25pm, Nur Farah Kartini's housemate goes to the Tanjung Malim police station to report that her friend has not returned since leaving in the morning.

However, she is asked to file the report after the victim has gone missing for 24 hours.

Afternoon

-The supervising officer at the station reportedly contacts a police officer, who is known to have a relationship with Nur Farah Kartini.

July 11, 2024:

-Police receives a missing person's report at 1.56am from Nur Farah Kartini's family at the Tanjung Malim police station.

-She is last seen about 8am on July 10 in the residential area where she delivered the car. She works with a printing shop, but does part-time work at a car rental outfit.

-She is last seen wearing her workplace's corporate attire with a headscarf and black slacks. An eyewitness says she got into a red car, but the registration plate is not visible because it is raining.

July 12, 2024:

-The management staff at Nur Farah Kartini's printing shop take to the media to appeal for her return following her disappearance.--- Nur Farah Kartini's brother goes to Tanjung Malim to find her .

July 13, 2024

-The suspect meets Nur Farah Kartini's brother in Tanjung Malim but denies meeting her on the day she disappeared.

July 14, 2024

-The suspect, a policeman at the Slim River station, is summoned by the Mualim district police chief for questioning. He initially denies involvement, but eventually admits to knowing about the disappearance.

July 15, 2024

-The suspect is detained for further questioning.

-He then leads investigators to the location of the deceased.

-Nur Farah Kartini's body is found at Felda Gedangsa in Hulu Selangor about 6pm. Selangor police chief confirms that the remains match the description of the missing person reported in Tanjung Malim.

-The suspect is arrested at the scene of the crime in Hulu Selangor.

July 16, 2024

-Police obtain a remand order on the suspect. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

July 18, 2024

-Selangor police chief says a handbag believed to belong to Nur Farah Kartini is found in Sungai Trolak, Kampung Batu 4, Slim River, Perak.

-Police say DNA tests confirm that the remains found is Nur Farah Kartini's.

-The remains are buried at the Kampung Nyiur Manis Muslim cemetery in Pekan, Pahang.

July 20, 2024
