HULU SELANGOR: The operation to search for evidence related to the murder of Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah in Sungai Trolak, Kampung Batu, Perak, will continue today.
District police chief Superintendent Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said that police will focus exclusively on the second location, with the operation commencing at 10am.
"Yes, that's correct (focus on Sungai Trolak). We will concentrate our efforts there," he said briefly when contacted yesterday.
Meanwhile, when asked about continuing the investigation at the primary crime scene, the palm oil plantation in Kampung Sri Keledang, Hulu Bernam, Ahmad Faizal said it depends on forensic findings.
"It will depend on the forensic investigation and the need for further scientific evidence," he said.
Yesterday, a handbag believed to belong to Nur Farah Kartini was discovered near Kampung Batu, Perak, close to Sungai Trolak.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the discovery when contacted.
The media reported that efforts to locate belongings and other evidence of the 25-year-old have shifted to another location about 20 minutes from Kampung Sri Keledang in Hulu Selangor, where her body was found in an oil palm plantation.
This move followed the discovery of a smartphone believed to have belonged to Nur Farah Kartini, found in a ditch within the plantation.
Nur Farah Kartini's body was discovered around 6pm on Monday, several days after she was reported missing on July 12.
Earlier in the day, a police lance corporal stationed in Perak, who was detained, had led investigators to the body.
The suspect is currently under a seven-day remand order until July 22.
