The 25-year-old was a digital marketing staff at a printing shop in Perak and had been missing for five days when police recovered her remains in Hulu Selangor. Hailing from Miri, Sarawak, she graduated from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) with a multimedia education degree.
July 11, 2024:
- Police received a missing person report at 1.56am from Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah's,, family at the Tanjung Malim police station after she failed to return home from delivering a rental car to a customer in Taman Universiti, Tanjung Malim.
- Nur Farah Kartini was last seen alive about 8am on July 10 at the residential area where she delivered the car. She worked with a printing shop, but did part time work with a car rental establishment.
- She was last seen wearing her workplace's corporate attire with a headscarf and black slacks. An eyewitness said she got into a red car but the registration plate was not visible because it was raining.
July 12, 2024:
- Management staff at Nur Farah's printing shop workplace go to the media to appeal for her to return following her disappearance.
- It is reported that she was not formally employed by the car rental outfit but only helped out in the endeavour and earned commission.
- Nur Farah's brother travels to Tanjung Malim to gather more information to trace her sister.
July 15, 2024:
- A 26-year-old policeman attached to the Slim River station is summoned for questioning.
- The suspect, who was the victim's senior while studying, directed investigators to the location of the deceased.
- Nur Farah Kartini's body is found in Felda Gedangsa, Hulu Selangor about 6pm. Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirms that the remain's found matched the description of the missing person reported in Tanjung Malim.
- The suspect, a lance corporal from Melaka is arrested at the scene of crime in Hulu Selangor.
July 16, 2024:
- Police obtain a remand order on suspect from the court. The case is investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
- Police also confirm that the suspect was the victim's boyfriend.
- A family member said Nur Farah Kartini's remains will be brought back to her hometown in in Kampung Lereng Bukit, Miri, Sarawak, for burial today.
