JOHOR BARU: Two foreigners were injured when a fire broken out and engulfed three shop lots at Pekan Senai along Jalan Utama, here, today.
One had fractured his leg while jumping to safety, while the second victim's condition is unknown at press time. Both were rushed to Kulai Hospital.
District Fire and Rescue Department received the distress call at 9.38am and dispatched their units from Bandar Baru Kulai, Kulai, Skudai, Kempas, and Senai to the scene.
The operation was led by Senior Fire Officer Syed Hussin Syed Mustafa, who said upon their arrival within four minutes, the fire had fully engulfed the three adjoining shop-lots, destroying about 90 per cent of it.
"One victim sustained a fractured leg while attempting to escape, while the condition of the second victim remains uncertain. Both were transported to Kulai Hospital for treatment by health ministry paramedics," he said in a statement today.
Efforts to fully extinguish the fire are ongoing.
