MoF denies issuing any WhatsApp message on civil service pay rise

KUALA LUMPUR: The Finance Ministry has denied issuing any messages over WhatsApp regarding a pay rise for civil servants.

The ministry on its posting on Facebook advised the public to be cautious and not to be easily deceived by such news.

"Visit the official Finance Ministry portal and follow its social media channels for the latest and accurate information," it said.

Attached in the post were the messages that were purportedly sent over WhatsApp dated July 25.

In the message, it had allegedly shown the percentage of pay rise according to the respective civil servant's grade that will be announced by the prime minister on Aug 16.

Previously, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had announced a more than 13 percent rise for civil servants' remuneration.
