KLUANG: Mahkota state assemblyman Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain, is in critical condition at the Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital here, due to internal bleeding.

The 63-year-old's condition was confirmed by Umno Batu Pahat Wanita chief Haliza Abdullah today.

"Yes, it is true that Datuk Sharifah Azizah is reported to be in critical condition due to internal bleeding.

"We (Umno Batu Pahat Wanita members) will be paying her a visit at the hospital, later today," she said, when contacted.

Sharifah Azizah, who currently serves as the Kluang Umno Wanita chief, previously held the position of Umno Johor Wanita chief.

She won the Mahkota state assembly seat in the Johor State Election in 2022.

Prior to that, she served as Penawar state assemblyman between 2018 and 2022.

Meanwhile, Umno Pontian Wanita chief and Pulai Sebatang state assemblyman Hasrunizah Hassan, said Sharifah Azizah was hospitalised in March previously to address the internal bleeding issues she has been suffering.

"We thought that Sharifah Azizah's health issues had been resolved after she was discharged from the hospital a few months ago.

"However, it was a shock to hear this morning that she is in critical condition.

"We are praying for her recovery…I am gathering further information before paying her a visit," she said, adding the community and her colleagues are deeply concerned and hoping for positive updates on her condition.
