PUTRAJAYA: The government will hold a Palestine solidarity rally on Sunday to send a clear signal on Malaysia's stance to the international community.
Unity government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil said the rally would take place at Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil at 8pm.
The communications minister said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, cabinet members and other leaders would attend the rally.
"Malaysians are invited to attend. We hope this will send a clear signal to the international community that Malaysia's stance on Palestine remains unchanged.
"We will continue to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people," he told a press conference here today.
This will be the second Palestine solidarity rally. The first one was held at Axiata Arena on Oct 24 last year.
Fahmi said the rally was open to all, and senators and members of parliament from all parties were invited.
He said the cabinet could not send representatives to the funeral of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Qatar today.
But a representative from the Malaysian government would attend, he said.
"The cabinet unanimously condemns the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, a brutal and barbaric act.
"As the prime minister mentioned in a social media post, this is an attempt to sabotage peace and ceasefire efforts."
