KUALA LUMPUR: Two policemen who allegedly extorted money from a foreign couple will be charged tomorrow at Kajang Court.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the two will be charged under Section 384 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code.
"The investigation papers have been completed today and the case has been referred to the Selangor prosecution office.
"Both suspects will be charged tomorrow at 8.30am at Kajang Court, and if found guilty, they may face imprisonment for up to 10 years, a fine, caning, or any of the two penalties," he said in a statement today.
Previously, two videos circulated on Telegram, allegedly showing policemen extorting money from a foreign couple.
The first video showed the two men in blue uniforms, wearing motorcycle helmets and standing next to two motorcycles, talking to a man in a grey T-shirt and jeans.
As the three men talked, a woman was seen slumped against a parked car, her head covered with a piece of cloth. She also appeared to be unconscious or unwell.
One of the men in blue uniforms was then seen opening the motorcycle box and instructing the individual to place something inside. The individual took something out of his jeans pockets and put it in the box.
In the next video, the individual appeared to be trying to revive the woman.
The man carried the woman over his shoulder as the two in blue uniforms got on their motorcycles and left.
Meanwhile, a caption accompanying the videos claimed that the incident occurred at Taman Taming Jaya, Balakong.
