Late-night parking dispute near temple escalates into physical altercation

KLANG SELATAN: A late-night parking dispute escalated into a physical altercation involving multiple individuals outside a temple in Taman Maznah, here on July 24.

Two videos of the incident have since gone viral on social media platforms.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong said the police received a report from a 38-year-old local man at about 11.30pm about the fight which occurred in front of the temple.

According to the first complaint, the altercation began at about 10pm after he was asked to move his car, which was parked in an open area near the temple, frequently used by his family.

He said tensions rose when the complainant ignored requests from several local men associated with the temple to move his vehicle during a prayer ceremony.

"Checks showed the situation escalated when one of the men threw a piece of wood at the complainant's car, sparking a verbal confrontation that quickly turned physical.

"Both parties involved in the brawl subsequently filed police reports regarding the incident," he said.

Cha said police investigations revealed that the conflict stemmed from the parking issue, which has been a recurring problem for the complainant's family.

"A patrol team that arrived at the scene managed to break up the fight before both sides lodged a report," he said, adding that fortunately, none of the individuals involved sustained serious injuries.

He also confirmed that the investigating officer has since recorded statements from all parties involved.

"Both parties had decided to discuss the matter amicably and seek a resolution to prevent future conflict. A peaceful settlement was reached following a thorough investigation and mediation by the police."

On the videos which have been circulating, he urged the public to refrain from sharing these videos to avoid causing unnecessary concern among the local residents

Cha also expressed his gratitude to the community for their cooperation.
