16-year-old killed in street racing crash in Klang

KLANG: A 16-year-old motorcyclist was among two who died following an accident along Persiaran Raja Muda Musa in the wee hours here yesterday.

The two were performing dangerous and reckless manoeuvres along the road with a group of mat rempit.

The area is a notorious "racetrack" for mat rempit.

Videos of the accident have since gone viral.

South Klang police chief Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong said the incident occurred around 4.30am on Sunday.

"Four motorcycles were involved in the fatal crash.

"A 21-year-old man died at the scene while the 16-year-old boy died while en route to the hospital," he said today.

He said the accident occurred when a group of motorcyclists was speeding along the road from the Pandamaran Sports Complex heading towards Port Klang.

"Checks revealed they would do laps along that road.

"One of the motorcyclists skidded and crashed before the other motorcycles crashed into him," he said, adding that the case was classified as causing death through reckless and dangerous driving.

Cha said the location was popular among youths who use that stretch of road as a meet point and "circuit", especially on weekends.

"They continue to gather there and perform dangerous manoeuvres even though there were operations and arrests in that area in the past.

"We urge parents and guardians to be more observant of their children and to control them so that they do not take part in illegal races which will threaten their lives as well as the lives of other road users," he said.

Those with information on the case should contact Inspector Mohd Khairul Nizam at 010-245 2144.
