ALOR STAR: A man who jumped into a river to escape from police has been found drowned.
The 34-year-old man's body was recovered from Sungai Wang Tepus in Kampung Empa, Pokok Sena, at 1.38pm today (Aug 5), about 21 hours after he jumped in.
Kedah Fire and Rescue Department Zone 1 chief, Ahmad Aminudin Abd Rahim, said the body was found about 3km from where the man was last seen.
"The rescue team found the body at the bottom of the river. The diving operation began this morning.
"Due to clear weather yesterday, the river current was not too strong."
