Man found drowned after falling from bridge yesterday

KUCHING: A 34-year-old man who went missing yesterday after falling from the Tan Sri Dr Sulaiman Daud bridge has been found drowned today.

The body of Aliff Fadzree Azlam was discovered floating by the public at 3.50pm, approximately 50 metres from the location where he fell.

A spokesperson from the operations centre of the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said the body was retrieved by the rescue boat.

"The victim's body was handed over to the police at 4pm for further action," he said.

The victim was reported to have fallen from the bridge by his wife at around 8.30am yesterday.

A team of nine from the Petra Jaya Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene to conduct a search and rescue (SAR) operation shortly after receiving a call at 8.52am.

The operation was also joined by members of the Water Rescue Team from the Batu Lintang Fire and Rescue Station, as well as the police, the police drone unit, and the Civil Defence Force.
