GUA MUSANG: A septuagenarian from Sungai Asap, here, who will cast her vote for the ninth time this Saturday, hopes that the next Nenggiri assemblyman will permanently reside in the constituency.
Ropeah Yusof, 72, said she didn't want an assemblyman who would only appear when an election is near.
"Like other voters, l also want an assemblyman who is more concerned about the people's welfare, especially for disabled people like me," she said when met at her home.
As she is not able to move due to nerve pain, she said she would ask one of her children to bring her to the Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Asap polling centre using a wheelchair.
"I have been voting since the age of 21 and could not wait to cast my vote this Saturday.
"I realise that with this kind of health condition, l might trouble others, especially my children.
"But l am glad that one of my sons has agreed to send me to the polling centre on Saturday," said Ropeah, who now has 15 grandchildren.
She said she would vote for the candidate who she feels could help the people in Nenggiri especially in Kampung Sungai Asap.
"As a Malaysian citizen, it is our responsibility to vote every time there are general and by-elections held in the country.
"But who we will vote, it is our secret," said the former rubber tapper.
The Aug 17 Nenggiri by-election sees a straight fight between Rizwadi and Barisan Nasional candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani.
