KUALA LUMPUR: A trailer lorry caught fire after it overturned in the middle of the road while heading north on Jalan Duta today.
A City Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they received a distress call at 12.03pm before a team of firemen from the Sri Hartamas Fire and Rescue station were dispatched to the scene.
"A team of nine firemen led by operation commander Mohd Rosdi Yussof arrived at the scene at 12.12pm equipped with a water tanker.
"Upon arriving at the scene, the team saw the front portion of the trailer on fire and started dousing it," he said, adding that the trailer was 50 per cent burnt.
He said one man in his 30s, believed to be the trailer driver, sustained injuries on his head and hand.
"He was referred to the medical response team for treatment. The fire was completely doused at 1.48pm."
Earlier, a video posted on X by user @aidanotayda showed a trailer carrying a 40-foot container that had overturned on Jalan Duta.
In the brief clip, the trailer's fuel tank began leaking onto the road before the trailer caught fire.
Another trailer was seen stopping in the emergency lane, but it is unclear whether it was involved in a collision with the overturned container trailer.
