Man survives horror crash with trailer that crushed car [WATCH]

SUNGAI PETANI: A 34-year-old man miraculously survived a horrific crash which saw his Perodua Axia crushed by a trailer along Km 88.5 of the North-South Highway this morning.

Kuala Muda district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said the accident involved three vehicles, the trailer, the Axia and a Perodua Alza.

All three vehicles were travelling from Sungai Petani towards Alor Setar, when the trailer suddenly veered into the right lane from the left lane.

"As a result, the trailer grazed the Alza, resulting in the MPV crashing into a ditch," he said when contacted.

"The trailer then lost control and skidded towards the right lane into the path of the Axia."

The Axia crashed into the right side of the trailer and its driver suffered cuts to his head and hand.

The Alza driver, 33, and the trailer driver, 56, were unharmed.

The Axia driver was sent to Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim for treatment.

The crash caused a one-hour crawl on the highway.

Wan Azharuddin said the case was being probed under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act for careless and inconsiderate driving.
