GUA MUSANG: The state government should transfer water management in the Gua Musang district to the South Kelantan Development Authority (Kesedar) if it fails to resolve ongoing water supply issues, says Kesedar chairman Datuk Zawawi Othman.
He expressed confidence that Kesedar could address these problems, including issues related to water supply from catchment areas.
"Many villagers in Gua Musang have struggled with water issues for years. The Pas-led government and Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd have failed to address these concerns.
"I urge the state government to hand over water management in Gua Musang to Kesedar," he told reporters here today.
Zawawi, who is also the Kelantan Umno information chief, criticised Perikatan Nasional (PM) leaders for their attacks on Kesedar during the Nenggiri by-election campaign, suggesting these were attempts to gain sympathy and discredit Kesedar and the federal government.
"These attacks are unfounded. Instead of criticising Kesedar, PN should focus on the well-being of the settlers and the future of Kesedar's second generation," he said.
Zawawi said Kesedar was committed to assisting settlers in securing land grants and urged them not to blame the agency for delays.
"Kesedar is dedicated to helping settlers, but the state government is more focused on allocating 4,000 hectares for Musang King plantations rather than supporting the settlers," he said.
