Family to claim murdered teacher Istiqomah's remains at Melaka Hospital

PASIR GUDANG: The family members of murdered teacher Istiqomah Ahmad Rozi, embarked on a solemn journey from their home in Kota Masai, here, to Melaka Hospital's forensic unit to claim her remains today.

The 33-year-old teacher was reported missing on Dec 26. The decapitated body of a woman was found 11 days later in a rubbish bin Kampung Tanjung Rimau Luar, Pulau Sebang in Melaka.

On Aug 12, Alor Gajah police chief Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah confirmed that the confirmed that the headless, dismembered body found on Dec 31 was that of Istiqomah.

Her mother Saliha Ya, 58, said they were informed by the police that Istiqomah's body could be claimed from the hospital's forensic unit at 2pm today.

The family left their Pasir Gudang home in two vehicles, with the victim's husband, Mohd Yusof Mokhtar, 35, and their three children aged four, six, and nine, in one car, and her parents and relatives in another car.

Saliha said funeral arrangements had been made in Pasir Mas, Kelantan.

Earlier, former teacher Mohd Fadzly Ariffadzilah was charged with her murder at the Alor Gajah magistrate's court.
