KUCHING: Three students, including two girls, are missing after a boat they were on capsized while crossing the Sungai Kayan in Kampung Selampit, Lundu, today.
It is understood that around 20 students were on the ferry at the time of the incident, which occurred at 6.10 am.
A spokesperson for the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department's Operations Center said they received a call about the incident at 6.33 am.
A team of seven firefighters from the Lundu Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene immediately after receiving the call.
"An initial search was conducted by local residents, but the three missing students could not be located.
"Firefighters are continuing the search in collaboration with the village residents," the spokesperson said.
