Muhyiddin won't reveal 115 MPs who supposedly supported him, says former Umno stalwart

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Umno stalwart Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak today (Aug 20) claimed that Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is unlikely to reveal the 115 members of parliament who allegedly supported him to become the prime minister after the 15th General Election in 2022.

Salleh, who is also the former Sabah chief minister, said Muhyiddin would lose credibility among PN members should he reveal the names.

"I am confident that Muhyiddin will not reveal the names of all 115 MPs, as challenged by (Datuk Dr) Puad Zakarshi, as he (Muhyiddin) does not have that level of support and is merely making assumptions.

"If he attempts to disclose the names of these MPs, he will lose credibility as a leader if some of them refuse to confirm it.

"Consequently, PN will push him out of his position as chairman and replace him with someone credible and intelligent," he said in a statement on Facebook today.

Yesterday, Puad, who is an Umno Supreme Council member, challenged Muhyiddin to reveal the list of MPs who allegedly supported him to become prime minister.

He also demanded Muhyiddin to apologise for allegedly questioning the sovereignty of Al-Sultan Abdullah Riayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah during the Nenggiri by-election campaign.

This comes after a speech by Muhyiddin, allegedly touching the sovereignty of Al-Sultan Abdullah during his tenure as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong had gone viral.

In his speech, he claimed that he had the backing of 115 members of Parliament after the 2022 general elections and that the king should have called him to be sworn in as the 10th prime minister.

Pahang police have since received 28 reports on the matter.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said they would be calling Muhyiddin to provide his statement to facilitate investigations. ()
