SHAH ALAM: Continuous heavy rain caused flash floods in several areas in Shah Alam and Klang earlier today.
Pictures and videos of overflowing water, with some motorists getting stuck in traffic congestion, have been making rounds on social media.
Among the affected areas are Padang Jawa, Jalan Kebun, Seksyen 7 and Setia Alam in Shah Alam district and Sungai Bertih and Pelabuhan Klang in Klang district.
A video recorded at SK Padang Jawa showed the floodwaters rising to knee level.
The rain had since stopped and water had started to recede as of 6pm.
Shah Alam City Council in a Facebook posting advised residents to remain vigilant and monitor the water level in their residential areas during heavy rains.
It urged the public to adhere to evacuation orders issued by the authorities and relocate to the temporary shelter.
It said residents can call its Pantas team at 03-5510 5811 to seek help during floods in the municipality.
NSTP has reached out to the relevant agencies, including the Fire and Rescue Department and police to get further details on the flash floods.
