Police confirm traffic officer involved in abrupt lane change accident

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have confirmed that an accident involving a traffic officer occurred on Jalan Cheras when the officer, who was thrown from his motorcycle, collided with a car that made an abrupt lane change.

In a statement, City Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said that the incident took place at 10.25am yesterday (Aug 25).

"Initial investigations indicate that the accident occurred when a car changed lanes suddenly and struck the officer, who was en route to work.

"Fortunately, the officer did not sustain any injuries. Both the car driver and the officer have reported to the police station for further investigation," he said.

Earlier, it was reported that a traffic policeman was thrown from his motorcycle after a car abruptly changed lanes.

A 28-second dashboard camera video, which has gone viral on Facebook, shows the officer riding in the far-left lane.

The Honda City, appearing from the right, switched lanes suddenly, causing the collision.

The impact sent the motorcycle spinning several times, and the officer fell, scattering his personal belongings on the road.
