Police confirm report on viral video of men fighting in Bukit Mertajam

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police have confirmed receiving a report from a car driver who claimed to have been assaulted by a factory bus driver during an incident at a traffic light junction in Kampung Juru yesterday.

A video of the altercation has since gone viral on social media.

Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Helmi Aris said that the incident occurred yesterday evening.

"According to our investigation, the car, driven by a local man in his 40s, exited the junction and stopped, blocking the factory bus from continuing on the same route.

"The bus driver, a local man in his 50s, honked loudly before getting out of his vehicle, leading to a confrontation between the two men," he said.

Helmi also said that the car driver later withdrew his police report after both men resolved the issue amicably.

The video, which has since been removed from social media, was 34 seconds long and showed the two men fighting in the middle of the road, blocking traffic.

It is understood that the car driver made obscene gestures toward the bus driver before the altercation ensued.
