Drain in Kampung Kerinchi collapses [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A drain and the ground around it has collapsed along Jalan Pantai Permai in Kampung Kerinchi.

The incident left a huge hole along the road there on Monday.

In a post on its official Facebook page, Kuala Lumpur City Hall said it was aware of the incident.

"Initial work has been conducted to close off the area using water barriers and cones. The area was cordoned off about 10pm on Monday," it said.

The incident follows a sinkhole that emerged and swallowed an Indian tourist along Jalan Masjid India on Friday.

Vijayaletchumy, 48, disappeared after being swallowed by a sinkhole on Friday morning.

Video footage of the incident where the sinkhole suddenly emerged and swallowed her was revealed by the Fire and Rescue Department.

The 31-second closed-circuit television camera video clip shows the woman walking along the pedestrian path there behind two other people.

Just as she was about to reach the bench, the ground around her suddenly sank and she disappeared into the hole.

A man sitting on the bench was also seen almost swallowed by the sinkhole, but managed to pull himself up.
