Muhyiddin appeals public support amid sedition charges

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today appealed for the prayers and support of the people in light of his sedition court case.

In a post on his Facebook account today, the Perikatan Nasional chairman confirmed that he has been charged under the Sedition Act at the Sessions Court in Gua Musang, Kelantan today.

"I pleaded not guilty (to the charges).

"I pray to Allah that I'll be granted justice by the courts.

"I also hope for the prayers and support from all of you," read the social media posting.

It was reported that Muhyiddin, who is also the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president, was charged at the Sessions Court with making seditious remarks at Felda Perasu on Aug 14.

The former prime minister pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him before Judge Nik Mohd Tarmizie Nik Mohd Shukri.

The case has been fixed for mention on Nov 4.
