Motorcyclist dies after being struck by rolling truck tyre

KUALA LUMPUR: A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a rolling truck tyre at 266.9 Kilometre on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) this morning.

Seremban police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din, said that in the 7.30am incident, the victim was confirmed dead due to severe head injuries.

"Preliminary investigation revealed that the accident occurred while the 47-year-old victim was riding his motorcycle from Sikamat towards Putrajaya.

"Upon reaching the scene, the victim's motorcycle reportedly struck a truck tyre that is believed to have come lose and rolled from the opposite direction into his lane," he said.

"This caused the motorcycle to lose control, veer to the left, and crash into the left-side guardrail," he added.

He said the truck involved in the accident and its 29-year-old male driver were identified, with the driver unharmed.

"The motorcyclist sustained severe head injuries due to the accident and was confirmed dead at the scene," said Mohamad Hatta.

He added that anyone with information about the incident can contact the investigating officer, Inspector Fadzilah Ahmad at 016-2895801.

Alternatively, they can reach out to the Seremban District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 06-6033222 to assist with the investigation.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and further investigation is ongoing," he said.
