Grinding gridlock: 3-hour traffic snarl on NSE after trailer spills concrete beams [WATCH]

JOHOR BARU: A trailer transporting concrete beams overturned at KM10.7 of the North-South Expressway (southbound) yesterday, causing a three-hour traffic standstill.

The accident occurred at 2.35pm when the trailer's bed detached, tipping over and scattering the concrete beams across the left lane.

Johor Baru (North) police chief Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh said the incident blocked the left lane, leading to the traffic jam. The 26-year-old driver was unharmed and filed a police report three hours later. No other motorists were injured.

Investigations are ongoing under the Road Traffic Rules 1959 for failure to control the vehicle. Witnesses are asked to contact Sergeant Mohd Shahrizan Mohd Lauri at 014-6633283.

Footage of the overturned trailer and scattered beams went viral on social media, with one netizen joking that those in need of construction materials could brave the congestion to collect the beams.
