Rafizi sues Wan Fayhsal over cyber trooper allegations

KUALA LUMPUR: Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli is taking legal action against Member of Parliament Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, following allegations that he misused ministry funds to pay cyber troopers.

Wan Fayhsal, who also serves as Bersatu Youth chief, claimed in response to a viral post on X (formerly Twitter) that accused the Economy Ministry of financially supporting a TikTok influencer due to their content.

"I have instructed my legal team to initiate proceedings against Wan Fayhsal for openly slandering me, accusing me of employing henchmen and misusing ministry funds to pay cyber troopers," Rafizi wrote in a post on X today.

The minister strongly denied the allegations, calling the accusations a "clear-cut case" of slander that would be addressed in court.

"I have never taken legal action before, but this case is straightforward, and I believe the truth will be revealed through the legal process," he said.

Wan Fayhsal responded to the viral post by claiming that the individual was one of Rafizi's "henchmen" and suggested that ministry funds were being used for political purposes.

"These are all Rafizi's henchmen.

"How convenient it must be to use ministry funds for political lackey work!" he wrote.

The Machang MP has been suspended from the Dewan Rakyat since July 18 for six months.
