Wan Fayhsal: Two against one is not a problem!

KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has announced his readiness to engage in a public debate with two federal ministers.

The Machang member of parliament said his side was still waiting for a reply from Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli and Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil on the challenge he made last week.

"I am still waiting for a response to my challenge to Rafizi and Fahmi. Two against one is not a problem!

"After the debate on Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) and BlackRock is done, I am ready to debate one-on-one with Rafizi on issues such as monetary policy, fractional reserve banking and petrodollar," he said in an X post.

Last week, Rafizi agreed to debate with Wan Fayhsal on the economy, following a comment by the latter that question time in the Dewan Rakyat is a self-serving debate session for the prime minister.

Wan Fayhsal had challenged Rafizi to a live debate, instead of a podcast discussion as Rafizi had suggested, on the controversy surrounding Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, Global Infrastructure Partners and BlackRock.

As a response, Rafizi said they should debate how to stimulate the economy by printing money – a jab at Wan Fayhsal's suggested to a solution in 2020.

In view of the costs of a live debate, he said he would discuss with RTM, Astro and other platforms on hosting the debate for the sake of Malaysia's economy, he said.

Wan Fayhsal had suggested in 2020, during his tenure as deputy youth and sports minister in a BFM radio podcast, that Bank Negara Malaysia, could print more money and directly hand the cash to Malaysians.
